Cead Mille Failte!!!
The traditional welcome in both Scotland and Ireland – a hundred thousand welcomes – is extended to everyone through our new home on the web. While of course we’d love to meet you in person here in the store in Lexington, or at any of the Festivals we participate in, we hope you will find our new website appealing and welcoming.
While our store may offer “sentimental tugs” to those from the “Auld Sod”, we hope we can offer a broad range of gift items which will appeal to one and all. Whether it be bronzes, artwork, crystal, jewelry, apparel, books, heraldry, grocery items or custom engraving, we really do have a broad range of gifts and awards we hope will appeal to one and all.
About us – Mary Jo is from Tenelick in County Longford. The small farm she grew up on has been in the family for almost four hundred years. This area of Ireland is known as “Goldsmith Country” in recognition of Oliver Goldsmith, the renowned 18th. century poet, author and physician. John was born in Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland. Dunfermline, the ancient Capital of Scotland, is perhaps best known to Americans as the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie.
We are very proud that at a time when “cheaper might be easier”, as much of our product as possible comes from genuine Scots and Irish manufacturers based in Scotland and Ireland. We do have several items made here in the U.S., and unfortunately it is inevitable that some, (very few), items products do come from elsewhere. We know where our suppliers are and are always happy to tell our customers where our products come from.
Above all else, we always hope you will find a warm welcome either here in person, or “virtually” on line. The new site allows you to let us know what you think or, more importantly, how we can help you even more.
